The Background of the CoolSculpting™ Discovery

The scientific principles behind Zeltiq CoolSculpting were discovered by world-renowned dermatologists Dieter Manstein, MD, and R. Rox Anderson, MD, at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, MA, a teaching affiliate of Harvard Medical School. Drs. Manstein and Anderson's initial work concluded that prolonged, local tissue cooling can induce selective damage and subsequent loss of subcutaneous fat, without damaging the overlying skin or causing meaningful changes to blood lipids or liver function.

This scientific discovery led to the development of the non-invasive Zeltiq Technology.
